The dogs at the shelter would all have stories to tell, if they could talk to us. Each story would be unique. We can only guess at what Ami would tell us.
Her name, Ami, means 'Beloved' and is the French word for 'Friend'. She once had a family that loved and cared for her, she must have been a very loving dog for them, but something happened, and she was abandoned. Whatever it was, we don't believe it was Ami's fault - not at all.
Despite having some health problems right now, a skin condition that is being treated, and an old leg injury, Ami will happily get up and come to go for a walk or romp around your yard. Bunnies, skunks, and lizards won't want to hang around your yard anymore with Ami as the guardian of your property.
Ami has a little bit of Akita in her, and she shows that in her very regal presence. She is always calm, and usually very dignified. But she has a playful side, too. Ami's favorite indoor past time is moving pillows around, whether they be on the sofa or your bed, and watching dog rescue shows on Animal Planet. She also likes string cheese for a treat.
Ami is ready to go home and be a loyal companion. She'll need some extra care. She'll need regular baths because of her sensitive skin, she'll need you to be a caring person who can look beyond and age and condition to the big heart inside. Are you that person?
